Restylane® is a gel-like substance that is injected into the desired area with a small needle by a medical professional. Depending on the area being treated, a topical and/or local anesthetic can be used to reduce discomfort.

There can be tenderness, redness, swelling and/or bruising at the injection site. These are rare and tend to subside within 48 hours of the treatment. Nodules may also form in the treated area but can be massaged for a smoother effect.
