What to Expect
Consultation
Before your SkinPen® microneedling treatment in Oklahoma City, you'll meet with one of our providers for a complimentary consultation. Your provider will discuss any concerns you have about your skin, as well as what you’d like to accomplish. We will also discuss any sensitivities your skin may have.
SkinPen® Treatment
A topical numbing agent will be used to ensure your comfort during your treatment. Then we will use the SkinPen® microneedling tool to lightly pierce the skin with tiny (micro) needles to inspire your skin to repair itself, creating new skin and boosting collagen production naturally. To conclude your session, your provider will apply a hydrating gel that will soothe the skin and help to prevent it from drying out.
Results
Many of our patients begin to see results immediately after receiving a SkinPen® microneedling treatment. You will continue to see improvements in your skin over the following 3 to 6 weeks as your skin fully repairs from the microneedling procedure. Collagen regeneration continues after your treatment for 6 months to 1 year.
Pre-Care Instructions
6 months before treatment
- Discontinue the use of oral isotretinoin.
1 week before treatment
- Minimize sun exposure. Do not spray tan or use a tanning bed.
- Use a SPF 30+ sunscreen on the treatment area.
- Discontinue use of aspirin, naproxen (Aleve, Naprosyn), coconut oil, omega-3 fatty acids (fish oil; ingestion of fish), ginseng, gingko, turmeric/curcumin, St.John’s Wort.
3 days before treatment
- Discontinue the use of ibuprofen.
Note: Acetaminophen (Tylenol, Advil) can be used before and after treatment
Day of treatment
- Discontinue the use of products containing retinol or Vitamin A for 24 hours prior to your treatment.
- Wash the treatment area with a non-abrasive cleanser (no exfoliation).
- If you are prone to cold sores, take medication you are prescribed.
- Ensure 24 hours since your last autoimmune therapy session, if applicable.
*Always consult your physician before discontinuing medications
Post-Care Instructions:
- For 18 hours after treatment using only SkinFuse® Lift HG on the treated area.
- Avoid the use of any topical products not provided by your Renew specialist for specific use with this procedure. This includes but is not limited to cosmetics, cleansers, sunscreens, moisturizers, etc.
- Strictly avoid sun exposure, as you will not be wearing sunscreen. You may return to sunscreen use the day following your procedure. Continue to minimize sun exposure for one week following your procedure.
- Avoid strenuous exercise, excessive perspiration, and sauna for 72 hours after your treatment.
- Retin-A, retinols, and alpha hydroxy acids (AHA’s) should be stopped for a week following treatment.
- If you are prone to cold sores continue medication for 5 days after treatment.
- For discomfort, you may take acetaminophen (i.e. Tylenol, Advil).
