The area underneath the chin is a natural place for the body to deposit fat. Many of our clients are not happy with the look of fullness this can cause. Excess fat beneath the chin can be the result of normal weight gain, the aging process, or your own genetics. Even those who live a healthy lifestyle and are at a normal weight can experience a “double chin.”
Kybella® is the only FDA-cleared, non-surgical injectable treatment to contour the chin and eliminate excess fat. The active ingredient in Kybella®, deoxycholic acid, is a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps break down and eliminate unwanted fat cells.
When Kybella® is injected under the chin, the fat cells are destroyed. Once destroyed, the cells can no longer store or accumulate fat. After the desired effect is achieved, further treatment with Kybella® is not expected. Results are likely to last a lifetime. Patients who turn to Renew Wellness & Aesthetics for Kybella® in Oklahoma City can expect to achieve a much more flattering silhouette.

What to Expect?
Consultation
At Renew Wellness & Aesthetics, your expert injector will take the time to listen to your concerns and answer any questions you may have before developing a Kybella® treatment plan to meet your aesthetic and financial needs.
Get Your Kybella® Injections
After applying ice to numb the area, your provider will use a grid to map and mark your targeted injection sites. Your expert injector will administer the appropriate amount of Kybella® into the submental area. Most patients need 12 to 20 injections per treatment.
Next Steps
After your Kybella® treatment, swelling and tenderness is normal and should be treated with ice and Tylenol. Patients can expect swelling to last 3 to 4 days, but it can last up to 2 weeks as the Kybella® works to break down and destroy fat cells. Treatments can be repeated every 4 to 6 weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Kybella® and how does it work?
Kybella® utilizes an active ingredient that is naturally produced by the body. This substance breaks down fat and removes it from the body naturally. When Kybella® comes into contact with the fat cells underneath the chin, this active ingredient destroys them. Then, over time, the fat is naturally and permanently eliminated from your body. The result is a more contoured, defined profile which enhances your overall appearance.
What is the active ingredient in Kybella?
Kybella® in Oklahoma City contains synthetic deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule that breaks down and absorbs fat. When precisely injected into submental fat, it disrupts the membrane of fat cells, breaking them down. The body’s natural metabolic processes then gradually clear the cellular debris through the lymphatic system.
Do men get Kybella®?
We routinely see male patients for Kybella® in Oklahoma City to address submental chin fat and to create a stronger, more masculine jawline.
How does your team determine where to inject Kybella?
Planning is one of the most important parts of treatment. Your provider carefully evaluates fat distribution, skin elasticity, muscle movement, and jawline structure before mapping out a customized injection grid. Strategic placement ensures even fat reduction while also protecting aesthetics and important anatomical structures beneath the skin.
Can Kybella® be used in any other areas?
Currently, Kybella® is only FDA-approved to be used to reduce fat under the chin, commonly called a double chin.
Can Kybella® be combined with other treatments?
Yes. Depending on your goals, Kybella® in Oklahoma City may be part of a comprehensive aesthetic plan. Some patients benefit from treatments that improve skin firmness or enhance jawline definition to complement fat reduction. Your provider outlines a personalized strategy to create balanced, harmonious results.
Why are multiple sessions often needed?
Fat reduction with Kybella® is gradual and controlled. Treating in stages allows your provider to assess how your body responds, refine your contours, and preserve natural-looking proportions. This stepwise approach prioritizes safety while delivering a smoother, more sculpted result over time.
How long will the fat be gone after Kybella® injections?
Kybella® permanently destroys fat cells. Future changes in weight, lifestyle, or hormones may influence the overall increase in fullness in the area as a reflection of total body changes; however, the fat cells treated with Kybella® are permanently destroyed and cannot return.
How do providers ensure results look symmetrical?
At Renew Wellness & Aesthetics, treatments with Kybella in Oklahoma City seek to achieve a balanced jawline. Providers carefully evaluate facial anatomy, fat distribution, and muscle movement before each session. Using a precise injection map, we target specific fat pockets while preserving natural contours. We improve symmetry over multiple sessions, making adjustments based on how your body metabolizes fat. The process is gradual and controlled, helping you achieve a refined, confident profile without sudden or uneven changes.
How many Kybella® treatments will I need?
Depending on the amount of fat underneath your chin, along with your overall aesthetic goals, the number of treatments may vary. We will discuss this during your initial consultation at Renew Wellness & Aesthetics. Most of our patients need between two and four Kybella® treatments to reach their final goal.
How long will it take to see my final results from Kybella®?
Kybella® results are not instant, as the injections need time to destroy the fat cells and naturally eliminate them from the body. Patients will see improvement in 4 to 6 weeks, with full results at 12 weeks after the last treatment.
What happens during a Kybella® treatment?
Kybella® injections are strategically placed over the area of the chin to target submental fat. Kybella® injections only require a very tiny needle, and the entire treatment usually only takes about 15 to 20 minutes.
Does Kybella® hurt?
At Renew Wellness & Aesthetics, we are not only dedicated to helping you achieve your goals; we want you to be comfortable throughout the process of Kybella® injections in Oklahoma City. Though we always numb with an ice pack before Kybella® treatment, Renew offers Pro-Nox, a self-administered, rapid-onset pain management and anxiety relief system. Ask your provider to learn more. Our team will provide you with post-treatment instructions for how to properly care for your skin and manage any swelling or soreness experienced after your treatment.
Is Kybella® the only nonsurgical procedure you offer for double chins?
Renew Wellness & Aesthetics offers other alternatives to Kybella® in Oklahoma City. If a patient is not an ideal candidate for Kybella®, Renew providers will recommend an alternative treatment plan to achieve his or her aesthetic goals.
Am I a good candidate?
Ideal candidates for Kybella® in Oklahoma City are those who notice moderate fullness along the jawline caused by fat—not loose skin or muscle laxity. During your consultation, we assess skin quality, chin projection, and overall facial balance. In some cases, your provider may recommend combining treatments to also address skin tightening or structural support.
What does the recovery process look like?
The recovery process for Kybella® injections includes swelling. This is expected and typically peaks within the first few days after treatment. Mild tenderness, firmness, or temporary numbness may also occur. Most patients return to normal daily activities quickly, though social downtime may vary depending on swelling and other discomfort.
