This cosmetic treatment stimulates new collagen production by rolling tiny needles over the surface of your skin and applying platelets from your blood. It is also referred to as Collagen Induction Therapy. It is a very effective treatment to minimize the signs of aging. Additionally, it can also be effective in treating scarring from acne or certain forms of hyperpigmentation.
PRP (i.e., Platelet Rich Plasma) is plasma derived from your own blood that has a higher concentration of platelets than other parts of the blood. A syringe of blood will be drawn typically from your arm and then put into a centrifuge to separate the plasma from other parts of the blood. Because platelets help with healing due to growth factors and proteins found in the platelets, adding PRP makes the microneedling treatment much more effective.
Although this is one of those cosmetic treatments that sounds a little strange to some, the results are great for someone that wants a minimally invasive treatment option for their skin’s hyperpigmentation, scarring, or wrinkles.
The provider will use a microneedling tool such as the SkinPen to gently roll over and prick the top layer of your skin. This will create tiny holes in your skin through which the provider can apply the PRP.
When the provider adds the PRP, your collagen production and healing process should increase.
Microneedling is a pretty painless procedure overall. A topical numbing cream is applied to the area prior to the treatment. You might experience a little discomfort, but avoiding products that make your skin sensitive before the treatment, like exfoliants or acids, can help minimize any pain.
Typically, a series of 3 microneedling treatments, spaced 4-6 weeks apart, is recommended for the best results. For patients suffering from acne scarring, oftentimes 4-6 treatments might be needed.
Our Diamond Glow Facial, which is also known as a hydradermabrasion procedure, helps to exfoliate the outer layer of your skin. Beauty treatments that focus on exfoliation aim to remove surface-level, dull skin cells to reveal fresher skin underneath.
This treatment is different from microdermabrasion because your provider will use a customized solution with oxygen instead of microcrystals.
The results might be similar to microdermabrasion, but hydradermabrasion is also able to hydrate and improve circulation to the skin. After the removal of the dead skin cells, your skin could experience an increase in collagen production as well.
In addition to reducing fine lines and wrinkles, a Diamond Glow facial is also effective in treating hyperpigmentation, pore congestion, sun damage, dryness, oily skin, and uneven skin texture.
The provider will use a diamond tip device to exfoliate, extract, and infuse a customized serum into the skin.
The device used has different treatment tips each designed for a different skin type and texture. A variety of topical solutions will be applied to your skin as well for maximum effectiveness.
The Diamond Glow treatment is not painful and can actually be very relaxing.
To jumpstart your new skin, a series of 3 treatments is recommended 4 weeks apart. For maintenance, we recommend a Diamond Glow every 2 months. However, even just one Diamond Glow facial will rejuvenate your skin for up to 6 weeks!
A chemical peel is a popular treatment for people that are looking for brighter, clearer skin.
Chemical peels are offered at different strength levels, so some treatments can be done quickly when you have a break from work while others may require more recovery time.
Chemical peels are an extremely popular option for any person that wants to get rid of wrinkles, acne scars, or sun damage. They are one of the most effective non-invasive treatments you can get.
Chemical peels use chemicals (mainly acids) to deeply exfoliate your skin.
The acids applied by the provider will remove an even amount of dull, damaged, or dead skin cells across your skin. The types of acids used will be different depending on your skin type, your skin concerns and other factors. Examples of acids used in chemical peels include glycolic acid, lactic acid, salicylic acid, retinoic acid, and trichloroacetic acid (TCA).
The skin you can see on your face is the epidermis, and the dermis is what sits right underneath it. If you choose a stronger peel, the treatment goes deeper into the skin.
If you opt for a stronger level of chemicals, you could have red or even scabbing skin. We know this sounds scary, but rest assured that it is normal for the stronger treatment levels. Once it heals, you won’t regret it for even a second!
If you decide to choose a lower level of strength, you won’t experience much more than some temporary redness and sensitivity.
The number of chemical peels recommended greatly depends on the skin concern being treated. Light chemical peels can typically be performed once a month. For acne-prone patients, light chemical peels may be recommended even as frequently as every 1-2 weeks until the desired treatment outcome is reached.
Medium strength peels can be performed every 4-6 months, or 2-3 times per year. Deep chemical peels are typically recommended once every 1-3 years.
These are a popular type of dermal fillers that reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
Because hyaluronic acid is part of our skin already, the hyaluronic acid in the filler attracts more water to the surface of your skin. This will give your skin a full, plump look that makes you look more youthful!
Hyaluronic acid in any form is important for a hydrated skin complexion, and it is essential for the skin to retain water. As a result, these fillers are useful anywhere on your face.
Beware, however, of the “Hyaluron Pen” as this device is not FDA-approved and can be very unsafe. We have performed correction work for many of our patients after being treated by such a device. This device and several others like it, are being marketed on social media and across the internet as an “innovative” new injection device that can inject hyaluronic acid filler into the skin without using a needle. There are a tremendous amount of Hyaluron Pen gone wrong cases that cause us great concern.
The provider will inject the hyaluronic acid through a needle or a cannula. After the needle or cannula is in the correct skin layer, the provider will simply inject the appropriate amount of the gel into your skin!
A lot of fillers are mixed with lidocaine, so you luckily won’t feel much during the treatment. Topical numbing agents are often used prior to the treatment to increase patient comfort. It can sometimes be a little painful, but that pain doesn’t last long.
Hyaluronic acid filler can last anywhere from 6 months – 2 years, depending on the type of filler and area treated.
Laser skin resurfacing removes skin layers with exact, uniform precision. The new skin cells will form, and they will have a much younger look than the removed layers.
Laser skin resurfacing is a great option if you want a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that targets wrinkles and signs of aging. This treatment can be used around the mouth, eyes, forehead, or your entire face and neck.
If you decide to get your whole face treated, the provider will likely numb the parts of your face that are being treated.
Opus Plasma is a newer type of laser skin resurfacing treatment we offer at Renew Wellness & Aesthetics that utilizes state of the art technology. Because Opus Plasma uses plasma energy instead of light energy (like other lasers including the fraxel laser), it smooths the top surface of the skin and heats the lower layers, causing them to produce more collagen.
The provider will provide the numbing agent as needed, and then move the device over your treatment area. After the treatment, you may need to apply hydrating ointment to help with hydration and healing. You can expect one to two days of a sunburned look but generally can resume normal activities quickly.
We use a topical pharmaceutical numbing cream to alleviate any discomfort. We also adjust settings on the device to alleviate any pain or discomfort. Most patients report minimal pain with Opus Plasma laser.
Unlike a Fraxel laser treatment which can take up to an hour, the Opus Plasma laser treatment only takes about 15 minutes!
We typically recommend a series of three treatments, spaced 3-4 weeks apart for best results. However, even just one Opus Plasma laser treatment will create beautiful skin rejuvenation results!
You cannot have a list of popular beauty treatments to help you achieve a non-surgical face lift without mentioning Botox and Dysport.
These are some of the most commonly requested treatments, with 7.44 million procedures completed in 2019 alone. Since then, their popularity has only increased!
Botox and Dysport relax your muscles in place to minimize wrinkles and fine lines. Because you aren’t able to use those muscles as you did before the treatment, the wrinkles don’t crease like they usually would.
We have a complete guide to the difference between Botox and Filler to help you determine which one is right for you.
Both of these treatments are injections, so the provider will administer them with a needle. You’ll typically have targeted areas with this treatment, so the provider will focus on those areas.
Some people say that the injection itself feels like a small sting. It is hardly noticeable and goes away as soon as it comes on. After the treatment, you shouldn’t notice any type of pain.
We recommend Botox or Dysport treatments every 3-4 months.
Dealing with skin that doesn’t look its best is worrisome. Luckily, there are treatments available to help you get the skin you’ve been looking for and at Renew, we’re committed to helping our patients achieve a natural look.
If you’re ready for a non-surgical face lift, any of these treatment options may be a good fit for you.

So, what’s the difference between Botox and fillers (or dermal fillers)? Both are cosmetic treatments used to treat wrinkles and other imperfections.
But, where Botox blocks nerve receptors, fillers serve to lift and fill problem areas.
Over one million people get Botox injections every year. Of that one million, 90 percent are women reaching middle age status.
It is no secret that Botox and fillers have become a staple in the plastic surgery world. They are both non-invasive procedures that fix wrinkles, sagging skin, and have proven effective in reducing headaches, treating teeth grinding and reducing sweating!
Each treatment has its unique uses and desired results, though. That makes choosing between the two difficult, especially for a first-time candidate. If you are looking for aesthetic medicine in Oklahoma City, you probably have lots of questions on whether Botox or filler is right for you. With these Botox and filler guides, you can make an informed decision.
In this guide, you’ll learn all about the most common areas of the body for Botox and filler injections and benefits of both.
As always, we invite you to schedule a free consultation with us at Renew Wellness & Aesthetics to discuss your unique needs and to determine whether Botox or fillers would help you meet your aesthetic goals.
Have you tried every cream on the market to treat your wrinkles and problem areas with no results? Botox offers longer-lasting effects proven to tighten up the face.
Before receiving injections, you’ll want to know how this process works. Botox consists of a neurotoxin called the Botulinum Toxin Type A. When injected into an area of the body, this toxin serves as a muscle relaxer.
Botox is only one type of injection you can consider. There are several kinds of injections involving the botulinum toxin, all of which are brand names that provide different results.
Botox treats wrinkles caused by repeated muscle contractions ) in the face. When injected, the Botox serum relaxes those facial muscles by blocking your nerve signals.
Botox injections help to reduce and minimize wrinkles and age lines. Effects last for about 3-4 months.
Dysport is a neuromodulator which, like Botox, is derived from the botulinum toxin. However, its formula (abobotulinumtoxin A ) is slightly different, containing smaller particles and fewer protein buffers.
This injection, much like Botox, treats moderate to severe cases of wrinkles. What makes Dysport different is the concentration of protein molecules.
Patients may see results more quickly with Dysport, perhaps by a few days. Dysport spreads more easily than BOTOX. As a result, sometimes a broader area can be treated with fewer Dysport injections. This can be an advantage if a broader area is being treated.
When you think Botox, your mind goes to crow’s feet, forehead lines, and laugh lines. But you can use Botox outside of these common problem areas.
You can receive Botox injections almost everywhere on the body that experiences sagging or wrinkles. In fact, Botox has a few surprising benefits other than cosmetic treatments.
The upper facial muscles are a primary concern among women mid-20s and older. Laughing, frowning, and living your life causes those annoying muscle contractions that lead to wrinkles in the face.
Glabellar lines (frown lines) form vertically between your eyebrows. These are also known as “11s”. You may not realize how many muscles you use in your face until these lines begin to pop up, making you look upset or angry. Botox and Dysport are common choices of injections to wipe away frown lines in a subtle manner.
These lines are slightly different from frown lines. When you develop forehead lines, you may look more surprised than angry or sad.
Instead of being vertical, forehead lines form horizontally across your skin as you age. Some common causes of increased forehead lines are lifestyle choices such as too much sunbathing or smoking.
‘Bunny lines’ may sound adorable, but they may be cuter on actual bunnies than us humans. If you wrinkle up your nose, you can see where bunny lines may develop. A bit of Botox on either side of the nose can smooth these wrinkles. Injections for bunny lines are a bit tricky, though.
Remember, Botox causes relaxation of muscles. If the Botox injection goes wrong, it can affect your smile. That’s why it’s necessary to have an experienced Botox medical professional treat your bunny lines.
The next most common problem area for women is the eyes. We express so much emotion using just our eyes and the muscles surrounding them. When we laugh, our eyes squint.
When we act surprised, they widen. All of these expressions are working the muscles surrounding the eyes. Botox injections can soften and even re-shape your eyes, lifting them to create a more desirable, youthful look.
Separate from frown lines and forehead lines, your eyebrows can begin to sag. The eyebrow muscles weaken, loosen, and will dip down in an unflattering manner.
Botox injections can tighten up those eyebrows, helping to raise them back up. Essentially, you are getting an eyebrow lift without the trouble of surgery.
Brow droop can lead to something called hooded eyes. This condition is where the skin over the eyes dips down due to the weakened brow muscles.
Hooded eyes make you look older as it gives off the appearance of wrinkles or saggy skin. To rid yourself of these horizontal hoods, you could have surgery, but most people want to avoid such an intense operation.
Get around the trouble of going under by having an expert carefully inject your skin with Botox. If you catch it early on, you may be able to avoid surgery to fix hooded eyes down the line.
You cannot have injections directly into your eyelids, though. Botox too close to your eyes would risk brow or lid drooping.
Instead, much of the same method for eyebrow lifting is used to keep your eyes from sloughing downward.
Crows feet are one of the top reasons why people seek out Botox treatment. Crows feet are those horizontal lines that branch out from the outer corner of your eyes.
Any facial expression that causes the eyes to squint, such as a smile, will eventually lead to some form of crow’s feet. They are most common in older women.
That’s why Botox injections are sought out for the upper cheeks to stretch and smooth the skin. Botox will reduce the appearance of lines permeating out from the eyes.
Underneath the eyes may not be at the top of your list of Botox treatment areas. Consider the prevalence of bags under the eyes, though.
Bags may seem like a common side effect of not getting enough rest for a few nights. The fact is, bags that form under the eyes can become chronic.
Constant stress and lack of sleep will not only create dark circles. The skin under the eyes can begin to droop, too. Baggy eyes are also a result of aging as the elasticity in our skin softens.
When this happens, the skin hangs down, creating folds. If you seek Botox for under the eyes, this requires an injection administered to the muscles controlling your lower eyelids.
The upper face is not the only part of the head that will experience cosmetic issues. Wrinkles and loose skin can begin to affect the lips, chin, jawline, and more.
Having beautiful lips is one of the top cosmetic concerns for women, whether for fillers or Botox. Lipstick lines spider out from around the lips as women age.
They get their name because lipstick tends to bleed out into the vertical folds. These lines are most common in people who smoke because the lips extend outward to smoke a cigarette.
However, these lines can pop up due to several other factors, such as smiling, kissing, or any other emotion using the lip muscles. Because the resilience around the lips weakens over time, Botox injections are suitable to treat lipstick lines.
Lip flip is a procedure where we inject neurotoxin such as Botox or Dysport into your cupid’s bow and close to the corners of your mouth. This quick and easy procedure allows people the option for full lips without getting fillers. The serum relaxes the muscles in the lips, causing the inside of the lipto flip outward. There are lots of benefits of Botox lip flip and lip filler.
As we age, certain areas of our face experience advanced tissue loss. The chin is subject to deteriorating tissue.
When this happens, a dimpling effect dapples the chin. This is commonly referred to as “pebbly chin.” The skin will look loose or like permanent creases are covering the surface area. Botox will smooth this area out, leaving a youthful, elastic effect.
Women covet sharpened jawlines, but, as we age, the skin starts to loosen around there, too. Sometimes, this creates the effect of a weakened jawline or the appearance of having no jawline at all.
Botox injections around your jaw will enhance the natural bone structure underneath your skin.
Gravity takes its toll on your neck most of all. Not only is the neck area prone to lines and wrinkles, but increased sagging too.
As our skin loses collagen with age, the neck wilts downward, folding over itself. There are two types of lines that people are likely to develop: horizontal and vertical.
Horizontal lines occur due to simple aging whereas vertical lines often result due to increased physical activity, such as exercise.
Some people seek out surgery for a neck lift, entailing the cutting, removal and stretching of the skin. If you catch your necklines and folds ahead of time, then you might be able to save the area with a series of small Botox injections.
Botox is often associated with the face, but it doesn’t have to stop there. It might surprise you to learn Botox can work wonders on other, larger areas of the body.
Botox injections in the armpits can help stop unwanted underarm sweating. Typically, around 50 units of Botox is injected into each armpit to stop underarm sweating. These results can last up to 6-9 months in some patients.
Hyperhidrosis, or excess sweating in the hands and/or feet, can be an issue for many men and women. Botox can be injected into the palms of the hands or soles of the feet to stop this issue.
In this guide, we have learned that Botox can wipe away wrinkles, eliminate lines, and give you a more natural look. You now know all of the areas on the face and body that you can get Botox.
But did you know Botox has other benefits other than keeping us looking vibrant and beautiful? There are several different advantages to Botox outside of cosmetic treatment.
Believe it or not, but you can use Botox to treat migraines and headaches. Botox professionals inject the serum near the same pain receptors that induce headaches.
The serum relaxes muscles and paralyzes nerves. So, the pain signal you’d usually experience during a headache cannot reach your brain. Thus, it works kind of like a pain-relieving medication.
Botox for headaches and migraines will take a few treatments before you stop experiencing headaches. Afterward, it lasts around 12-16 weeks before you need another treatment.
Studies from Pain and Research Management show that Botox can help teeth grinding (bruxism) in adults. A stiff jaw could be a sign that you are grinding your teeth at night.
You might not realize it, but your jaw might tense up while you sleep. Bruxism leads to headaches, worn tooth enamel, and jaw pain.
Treating your teeth grinding with a few injections of Botox will relax your jaw. An expert will provide a few injections near your mouth and jawline, reducing clenching.
Since teeth grinding leads to headaches, you could be treating two painful scenarios with one easy fix. By fixing your bruxism, you could also alleviate pain from accompanying tension headaches.
Botox can block neurotransmitters when injected into a part of the body with numerous sweat glands. Due to this, many people seek Botox to manage excessive sweating. You could have Botox injected into your hands and feet to cure a condition called hyperhidrosis.
Hyperhidrosis is where your sweat glands work overtime in your palms and the bottoms of your feet. Botox cuts off these sweat glands so they cannot emit perspiration. Managing sweat is also why people get Botox in other areas of their bodies, such as their armpits or scalps.
Because Botox blocks sweat glands, it can also manage acne. When we sweat, it collects in our pores with other bacteria and dirt.
Pimples and acne arise due to those clogged pores. With tiny Botox injections, you ensure that sweat can longer get into your pores. You are also blocking your body from creating the oils that lead to a breakout.
While Botox is for cosmetic purposes, it does have its advantages in the medical field. Since these injections relax the muscles, that means they can help people who suffer from neurological disorders.
Localized Botox injections sometimes ease disorders revolving around muscle spasms and motor tics. Botox does not cure these conditions, though.
It mainly serves as a therapeutic device to help patients suffering from strokes, drooling, or twitching of the muscles.

Fillers, also known as dermal fillers, have a gel-like substance that plumps up when injected into the face and various parts of the body. The FDA has approved dermal fillers to be safe to use.
They consist of:
> Hyaluronic acid
> A temporary gel solution
Dermal fillers, like Botox, are temporary solutions for fixing cosmetic problem areas. Collagen contains properties designed to reabsorb back into your body after a while.
Hyaluronic Acid fillers last roughly 6-12 months. After which, you will require another round of treatment.
Different injections serve different purposes when speaking of dermal fillers. Juvederm and Restylane are the biggest names in the filler family.
Restylane has been around since 2003, while Juvederm got its FDA approval back in 2006. These two brand name injections branch out to incorporate several products within the filler family.
Each of the Juvederm and Restylane fillers offer a unique approach to cosmetic treatments. If you need injections for a specific part of the face, your filler provider will point you in the right direction.
Juvederm solutions contain an acid that we already have in our bodies. It’s called Hyaluronic acid, and we produce it to cushion our joints and tissues.
Because of this natural ingredient, there is no skin testing involved for Juvederm injections. That said, our skin loses its capabilities to produce this acid as we get older.
That is where Juvederm fillers come into play. This filler is best for cosmetic issues involving the lips, marionette lines, and smoker lines.
Juvederm’s primary purpose is to restore volume in parts of the face that have become dilapidated. There are several types of injections within the Juvederm family.
Juvederm Ultra XC works magic for clients who have reasonably thin lips or whose lips have thinned with age. This filler lasts up to one year and is best for people looking for larger lips.
Your lips will take on a full, revitalized, yet natural look. Juvederm Ultra XC is also an optimal choice for people who have severe lines around their nasolabial folds or “smile lines.”.
Juvederm Volbella XC is another lip filler that will plump up your lips while filling in vertical lip lines. The result of Volbella XC is a softer lip line lasting up to one year.
If your face has begun to sink with age, Juvederm Voluma XC is the way to go. These are fillers primarily used to inflate areas of the face that have lost their resilience.
When we get older, our cheeks can look hollow or become flat, and the skin begins to sag. Juvederm Voluma XC injects deeply into your cheeks, bringing your mid-facial area back to life for up to two years. This filler can also create beautiful results when injected into the chin and jaw.
Restylane was the first filler to be FDA approved. It has been on the market for some time now and is still an excellent choice for filler injections.
Restylane can fill most parts of the face, such as lips, cheeks, smiles lines, and chin..
A few minutes after injections, you will see your face begin to fill in with more youthful vitality. Restylane also lasts for about one year.
Since their introduction to the plastic surgery market, people have used fillers to treat their facial concerns. That doesn’t mean fillers don’t have other handy uses, though. Though fillers are always used cosmetically, never for medical purposes, they can do much more than plump and fill.
With aging comes the deterioration of bone, affecting the structure of our eyebrows. If you have eyebrow tissue that has dissolved, leaving your brows weakened, dermal fillers can be a wonderful fix.
Fillers will raise the area, lifting your brows to their original, natural height. Fillers can also widen the eyebrows. Lately, big brows have started to trend.
If you have thinner brows, plumping the ridge might give you the appearance of having a fuller ridge-line. Fillers will also improve the skin around the brows, making it tighter and more youthful.
Where Botox can help frown lines, many specialists will recommend dermal fillers as the best option. Fillers don’t just help tighten the skin but can also lift and stretch it as the gel-like solution expands underneath. Frown lines will disappear with fillers and stay away for a year.
As with frown lines, fillers are the best solution for under the eyes as well. The area beneath our lower eyelids called our “tear troughs” tends to become thin over time.
The skin can create a sunken, papery look that most people want to avoid. Fillers will add that collagen back into your skin, lifting those hollow dips back into place.
Fillers don’t contain the same toxins as Botox, so the injection near or around your eyes won’t threaten nerve damage. For this reason, fillers can be an optimal choice for revitalizing your eyes. It is important to see an experienced injector for tear trough filler, as not every patient is a candidate for filler in this area.
The skin around our noses will decrease in volume due to loss of moisture and acid. By losing these essential parts of the skin, your skin will start to crease and fold near the nasal area.
These grooves begin near the nose and span out horizontally from the mouth. When you smile, nasolabial folds pronounce even more. While the loss of moisture in the skin can result in these lines and grooves, sagging cheekbones may also be the culprit.
If an aesthetic medical provider suspects your cheekbones are to blame, they might suggest additional augmentation. By filling in and lifting your cheeks, you may see that that your nasolabial folds stay at bay.
Bone loss in our cheekbone structure is a problem most women 35 and up will address via fillers. High apples of the cheeks and sharp edges radiate youth.
Since cheekbones are the most common problem areas for women, you might wonder what causes cheekbone loss and sagging. Collagen loss is the main culprit, but several other lifestyle factors add to drooping cheeks.
A few injections of Restylane or Juvederm will leave your cheeks looking naturally higher and sculpted.
In this day in age, we are always looking down at a smart device, be it a tablet, computer, or cellphone. Casting our faces downward at electronic devices will cause gravity to take its toll. Craning your head at the slightest angle leads to weakened cheekbones, a weak chin, and higher chances of developing wrinkles.
Some experts theorize that eating too many sugary foods will inhibit your body from creating collagen. Sugar can also affect your skin’s elasticity. If you have a sweet tooth, this could be one reason why your skin and cheekbones are deteriorating.
On the other hand, you may not be eating enough foods high in fat. Reasons for this could be a low-fat diet, or you may be someone who eats healthy regularly.
Either way, the body needs a certain amount of fat to maintain acids like Omega-3 and Omega-6. These fatty acids are what preserve skin elasticity. If you have recently cut out fat from your diet or don’t eat it at all, you could be at risk for weakened cheekbones.
Have you lost a vast amount of weight in a short amount of time? If so, you may be depriving your body of necessary nutrients and vitamins.
Once the weight falls off, the skin can hang loose in certain areas, including the face. If you have lost weight but need to tighten up the skin around your cheeks, small filler injections will help.
Getting a good night’s rest won’t just leave you feeling refreshed. Sleeping helps your body repair itself. That includes your skin.
If you aren’t sleeping, then your skin isn’t getting the chance to fix itself. The skin around your cheekbones, and the rest of your face, will begin to thin and wrinkle.
Naturally, an image of a puppet comes to mind when you hear the term marionette lines. These lines get their name because they form around the mouth and laterally move down toward the chin. With a few filler injections, those curves will fill out in no time.
Along with cheeks, lips are the most popular part of the face for dermal fillers. Women with thin or thinning lips will often seek fillers to create a fuller look.
You can get injections that plump your lips slightly, giving a more natural look, or fill in your lips so that they look poutier. Fillers are great for vertical lip lines, too. Where you can inject Botox around your mouth, fillers can pinpoint each vertical line and fill it in.
Dermal fillers aren’t only used to plump lips, cheeks, and the chin. If you have scarring, they can fill in those marks.
Many people use fillers for acne pocks. These are scars caused by extreme facial acne. They are often deep divots in the skin that are noticeable to the naked eye.
For scarring, fillers injected directly into the scar will plump it up so that it matches the level with the rest of your skin.
You don’t have to stick to just acne scars, though. There have been people who get dermal fillers for other, noticeable scars on their bodies, especially their hands. The great thing about fillers is the plumping effect can fix mild to moderate scarring in a flash.
**Filler can also be used to help hands and earlobes look more youthful. Not sure if these are high SEO terms, but we could add those treatments in.
As with Botox, most people should be a candidate for fillers. But, there are always exceptions to the rule. When considering fillers, talk to your specialist and a doctor.
A candidate for dermal fillers is someone who:
A poor candidate for dermal fillers is someone who:
If allergens are a concern, you can always ask for an allergy test before getting dermal fillers. Testing yourself for allergies will prevent any reactions from occurring after the procedure.
After all this talk about Botox and filler (or dermal fillers), you are still in need of a specialist. By Dr. Julie Shelley
In the past several months, our office has seen a large increase in the number of patients coming to see us for correction work after being injected with the “Hyaluron Pen.” This device, and several others like it, are being marketed on social media and across the internet as an “innovative” new injection device that can “painlessly” inject hyaluronic acid filler into the skin without using a needle. It is commonly being used across our state for lip injections. There are so many Hyaluron Pen gone wrong cases that cause us great concern.
At Renew Wellness & Aesthetics, we pride ourselves on being educated and knowledgeable about the newest aesthetic techniques and treatments. New trends are constantly emerging in the beauty industry. Oftentimes, new treatments lack evidence to support their safety or efficacy. I firmly believe in sharing knowledge with our patients to help everyone make safe and informed decisions about their health and aesthetic treatments.
The Hyaluron Pen (also known as hyaluronic acid pen) is a small handheld medical device that is used to administer hyaluronic acid fillers into the face. This “pen” was originally created for diabetic patients to offer a needle-free, pain-free way to deliver insulin into the subcutaneous tissue.
The Hyaluron Pen works by creating enough pressure external to the tissue to “push” hyaluronic acid filler into the skin without using a needle. In Oklahoma, it is most commonly being used for lip injections.
The Hyaluron Pen is currently NOT FDA-approved in the United States. In fact, it is currently being marketed and sold illegally online. Recently, the Canadian Health Department made a strict warning against the device to its residents, stating that the device may pose health risks.
Potential risks of the Hyaluron Pen include:
In the U.S., no state has publicly commented on these types of devices. Yet, administering medication (no matter the method used) is considered “the practice of medicine.”
Per the American Medical Spa Association, these needle-free injection devices should be treated the same as traditional syringes of filler. In the state of Oklahoma, in order to legally use a Hyaluron Pen, individuals would need to possess the same license required to inject using a needle and syringe. These licensed individuals include: Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician’s Assistants, or Registered Nurses.
Both cannula and needle techniques are proven to be safe injection techniques. Both are FDA-approved in the US. These techniques allow the injector to place fillers in very specific planes and depths of tissue to allow for a desired aesthetic result. There are several brands of Hyaluronic acid fillers in the US. Juvederm and Restylane are two mainstream. Both are available for medical professionals to purchase through licensed pharmaceutical companies. At Renew Wellness & Aesthetics, we ONLY purchase hyaluronic acid filler through these FDA-approved companies.
Hyaluron Pens only “push” a thin hyaluronic acid filler into the superficial layer of tissue where it disperses in a very non-specific way. This makes it more likely to produce an undesired aesthetic result.
Hyaluronic Pen devices are currently being illegally sold and marketed to the public. This “treatment” is often used by unlicensed individuals. We have seen several patients in our office with undesired results from these devices. Patients should be extremely wary about having a treatment performed with one of these devices. Further, you should be aware of the risks associated with the outcome. This device has caused numerous, documented medical issues across the globe.
We strongly recommend only seeing a medical provider who purchases their filler (and all products for that matter!) directly and LEGALLY from pharmaceutical companies that provide FDA- approved products. It may save your face (literally)!
Hey you, yes you. The one that’s reading this right now. Wait, don’t scurry to find the backspace button. We know that having a low libido might be embarrassing for some, but you’re not the only one that wants to know how to increase sex drive. Many suffer from having a low sex drive at some point in their lives.
We know talking about it might seem taboo, but at Renew Wellness & Aesthetics, we’re here to help.
It is normal for your sexual desire to go through natural peaks and declines, but what do you do if your desire drops for a long period of time? What if you cannot seem to “engage” like you used to, and you find you want to increase your sex drive?
Many factors can contribute to this, and this article will talk about several ways to increase libido and reverse low sex drive in women and men. Plus, it’ll give you an overview of many of the sexual wellness treatments available at Renew.
So, what is the point of having sex if nobody gets to the peak of their enjoyment in the end? If you’re struggling not only with a low libido but also issues with achieving an orgasm, you might want to look into getting the O shot for women or the P shot for men.
This might not be a solution that you’ve heard of before, but it’s one of the many holistic remedies that people are now turning to when it comes to increasing their libido or treating erectile dysfunction.
Renew Wellness & Aesthetics is an O shot and P shot provider in Oklahoma City. We walk our patients through the process of this non-invasive procedure and ensure it is the right treatment. Here’s how PRP injections for the O shot and P shot work.
PRP injections take the platelets from your body and use them to increase your function sexually.
The O shot, or “Orgasm shot”, promises to increase arousal. Patients report better orgasms and increased libido after injecting platelets into the vaginal tissue. Also, the procedure is non-surgical, so you can rest assured of no surgery-related problems going forward.
Similarly, the P shot, or “Priapus” shot, works by injecting the penis with similar platelets. It assists with erectile dysfunction by repairing the blood vessels and other internal organs in the area. With the P shot, a man’s sex drive can thrive as it once did.
Blood is taken from the body and then it is spun in a centrifuge to separate the concentrate of the platelets. The platelets are then injected back into the body where healing needs to happen. This process stimulates the repair of cells around the area where the platelets get injected. Therefore, if the injection happens in areas such as the vaginal or penile tissues, this can lead to rejuvenation in those areas.
While it may sound strange, it’s been used to remedy a number of sexual issues that a person might be struggling with, including low libido, erectile dysfunction or orgasm disorders.
This type of treatment can help immensely when it comes to both clitoral and vaginal rejuvenation and ED in men.
The change to your libido may be due to a hormonal imbalance. For women, your body goes through a variety of changes beginning from when you hit puberty all the way through menopause. Because of these changes, you experience hormone imbalance, vaginal dryness, and loss of interest in sex.
But there’s a remedy for that, and it’s hormone replacement therapy. Studies have shown that hormone replacement therapy helps women rediscover the interest they’d thought they lost in their sexual desires.
How does this work, you might be wondering? HRT helps to reduce hot flashes, improves sleep, and increases vaginal secretions.
We realize that patients have lots of questions about hormone replacement therapy. Dr. Shelley offers consultations to address each patient’s specific questions and also has an extensive article on the topic that answers many commonly asked questions about hormone replacement therapy.
Another option to encourage the growth of your sex drive is through the use of intimate-wellness tools. One example of these multifunctional devices includes Joylux’s vFit and vFit PLUS.
The vFit PLUS is a device that you insert into the vagina and allow to promote the body’s natural healing over several sessions. The vFit PLUS device uses many pieces of technology, including:
Both the vFit and the vFit PLUS are available at Renew, with the second one having advanced features. These include additional levels of sonic vibration as well as longer red light therapy sessions.
After three treatments per week for eight weeks, the device should have a noticeable effect on the surrounding tissue. It should improve confidence, increase sensitivity, and exemplify your intimate wellness.
ReVive is another revolutionary new therapy intended to combat low sex drive in women. It uses radio waves that it broadcasts toward the labia’s skin surface to encourage moisture to form and promote hydration of the skin cells.
These treatments are usually scheduled twice a month and continue for three months. They take around thirty minutes to perform and are non-surgical in nature.
The process involves preparing the area for treatment with a cleansing agent. After this, an ultrasound gel is applied. The ReVive electrodes are then positioned around the affected area and you will feel a warm sensation where the devices are applied against the skin.
After the treatment, the patient can continue with their daily life. They do not need extra rest or time away from their own routine. This makes ReVive perfect for a woman with a strict schedule or rushed lifestyle who cannot take time off.
Its non-surgical nature means this treatment is perfect for those who wish to avoid invasive treatments. Many who were thinking about labiaplasty have instead chosen to opt for ReVive instead. Labiaplasty can sometimes lead to scarring and ongoing pain, so ReVive is a wonderful alternative.
For sex drive issues, such as a lack of moistness or erectile dysfunction, shockwave therapy has had significant success. It can restore the muscles and tissues that lead to a positive sex life. For this reason, it has recently started to have a significant surge in popularity.
Shockwave therapy involves using acoustic waves and targeting them in specific areas. Acoustic waves are small vibrations that can assist with loosening or tightening areas.
Shockwave therapy treatment providers at Renew use a specialized wand to focus these acoustic waves towards parts of the body that need to repair themselves. This encourages the body’s natural healing processes and kickstarts its repair effort.
As the acoustic waves travel through the shockwave therapy device, they maintain their kinetic nature. The wand creates these acoustic waves by forcing compressed air through the shockwave wand. The wave then gets transferred to the transmitter at the end of the wand.
The wand is then placed against the affected area. From the wand, this kinetic energy stimulates the tissue deep in the body and can have a significant effect on the region’s healing potential.
When this method of treatment gets used on a person’s genitalia, it can help encourage blood flow. Also, it can reverse inflammation from chronic issues such as Peyronie’s disease and generally improve comfort levels in the area.
Shockwave therapy is a proven treatment for erectile dysfunction. The therapy enables a man to achieve a full and lasting erection.
Alternatively, shockwave therapy may aid the vagina’s natural methods of lubricating. This will be due to increased stimulation of the area from the acoustic wand.
For those with incontinence issues, loss of bladder control during sex can be a major worry. Fortunately, there are solutions available such as the FDA-approved, Emsella chair.
This chair, also referred to as the Kegal Throne, works by penetrating the body with electromagnetic technology. This repeatedly stimulates muscles to contract. It’s like doing 11,000 kegels in 28 minutes!
This exercises the muscles and builds up their strength. The result gives the individual greater control over their body’s functions. Patients achieve a more toned and tightened pelvic floor straight away after a single treatment. Emsella tightens vagina walls, minimizes urinary incontinence and enhances sexual satisfaction. Women have also reported increased strength of orgasms.
You sit on the chair fully clothed while the electronic waves work their magic for less than half an hour. Due to the non-invasive nature of the procedure, you can get straight back to your life afterward.
Finally, we understand that everyone has things that stress them out in life, but one thing you might not realize is that the things that are stressing you out might be why you need to seek a sexual health doctor near you. It’s crucial that even with the things that life throws at you, there’s a way for you to destress.
This could mean taking a relaxing bath at the end of the day or it could mean meditating and clearing your mind of clutter. When you take the time to reduce your stress, you’ll find that you’re able to focus better in other areas of your life, including your sex life and the bedroom.
We understand this decrease in sex drive topic isn’t one that you want to talk about with anyone, let alone your doctor, but it can be extremely useful. Dr. Shelley at Renew is here to provide you with advice on your holistic health and well being, and if you didn’t know it by now, your sexual health is a part of your overall health.
Your doctor can help you get to the root of why you have no desire for intimacy. And from there, you can discuss ways to improve this problem, whether that means a change to some of your lifestyle choices or treating an underlying issue.
Now you have a greater knowledge of the options available to increase your sex drive and begin to restore your intimate health. You might consider having PRP injections or the O shot. Maybe you are more interested in hormone replacement therapy to help get your body back in check.
You have options and certainly, if you have questions, please feel free to get in contact with us here at Renew Wellness and Aesthetics.
Our dedicated team is on-hand to ensure you have the best experience and make the right sexual health decisions that are best for you. Your well being and joy come first at Renew.
The human body is amazing and strong. However, it goes through many changes as a result of aging and normal wear and tear, not to mention childbirth for women. In fact, one of the common problems that women in particular face is a prolapsed bladder. It affects nearly 40% of women in the United States but can also affect men.
This condition is uncomfortable and usually requires treatment. Thankfully, there are non-invasive options that men and women can take advantage of as an alternative to surgery.
With that in mind, if you’re experiencing pelvic floor prolapse, this guide has the answer. Keep reading to discover your options and treatments available at Renew Wellness & Aesthetics.
In women, this includes the weakening of vaginal tissues. The bladder is held in place by the pelvic floor muscles and tissues within women. But when prolapse occurs, the tissues are stretched, become weak and cause the pelvic floor to drop and bulge into the vagina. It causes a hernia, and many women experience pressure in the vaginal area too.
This condition is also called a dropped uterus, dropped vagina, or a dropped rectum. Medical professionals refer to it as a cystocele.
Prolapse usually occurs as a result of pregnancy and childbirth. On the other hand, it happens to women who have never had kids as well. Additionally, prolapse is the side effect of chronic constipation, repetitive heavy lifting, severe coughing, and poor tissue integrity. It also occurs due to aging and menopause.
In addition to a bulge in the vaginal area, there are other symptoms associated with pelvic floor prolapse.
Symptoms include the following:
In most cases, a prolapsed bladder is a mild condition. It’s usually up to the discretion of the patient as to when to get the condition treated. However, if it’s left unattended, the condition could get worse over time.
In regard to postpartum bladder prolapse, new symptoms usually disappear within a year after delivery. The only time that the condition is considered severe is when there is urinary retention and the bladder is unable to empty itself. In this situation, the problem could lead to kidney damage or infection, and treatment is mandatory. However, urgent medical attention due to urinary tract infection is rare.
As previously stated, you don’t need to have surgery to treat a prolapsed bladder. There are non-invasive treatments that you can do to correct the issue, including the following:
Are you suffering from a prolapsed bladder? If so, Renew Wellness & Aesthetics can help you determine the best treatment for you. In addition, we offer a variety of sexual wellness services for both men and women.

Hello again! We wanted to share this Lash Lift OKC Guide to highlight our lash lift and tint services offered at Renew. You may have heard of this service, thanks to its recent popularity on TikTok. If you’ve been around the beauty industry long enough, you might even remember it being called a lash “perm.” Either way, this service has made its way back to service menus in spas and salons across the country in the last 5 years. And for good reason!
So what is a lash lift and tint? A lash lift and tint is great for several reasons. The reason it’s our pick for any type of eyelash enhancement service is because it uses your own natural lashes. Do you wear mascara daily? During this service, we’re basically replicating the look of a gorgeous mascara-coated and curled eyelashes.
This Lash Guide OKC wouldn’t be complete without information on lash tint. This gives the lashes their mascara-coated look. As a true blondie, my light-colored lashes always look much fuller when I have them tinted, and it really helps to define my lash line as well. While we recommend doing these services as a pair, you can definitely do them as stand-alone services. As with any service we offer, your lash curl size and tint color are 100% customized to you and your beauty goals.
This service is also a great alternative option for clients who love the look of lash extensions but not the upkeep or hassle of having them. We love that it gives your natural lashes a little break in having something glued on them 24/7. The lift serums we use are keratin-infused, which adds a nice healthy boost to anyone’s lashes. This service takes roughly an hour and only needs to be done every 8-10 weeks. It carries no downtime and is a nice excuse to come take a little cat nap during the day!
If in fact you are trying to take a break from lash extensions and feel like you might need a little boost, we recommend adding Latisse Lash Growth Serum to your routine as well! It’s an incredible FDA-approved eyelash growth serum (which can also be used on eyebrows). It helps to quickly and safely grow long and luscious lashes! We can always tell when a client has been faithfully using their eyelash serum because they have the longest and fullest lashes. Apply Latisse once daily to the lash line (or brow area) using the small brushes provided in your lash lift kit.
Overall, lash services are treatments that we love, and so do our clients! We hope you found this Lash Lift OKC Guide helpful. Giving your lashes a lift and tint is a great way to make a small change to your look without causing any damage to the natural lash. It’s also worth noting that while we are all wearing masks, the eyes are the new focal point of our face, so let’s make them pop. Learn more about all of our lash and brow services. We can’t wait to see you in for your lash lift and tint soon!
Shock wave therapy for ED is available at Renew. Erectile dysfunction, also known as ED or impotence, is a concern for millions of men around the world. Over 50% of men will experience some type of ED in their lifetime. The prevalence increases with age. This frustrating and life-altering sexual dysfunction is treatable.
The good news is that erectile dysfunction (ED) is treatable. Depending on the cause of the condition, several possible options are available, including Shock Wave Therapy, Platelet-Rich Plasma injections, and medication. Renew proudly offers shock wave therapy for ED. Extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) is a relatively new and innovative treatment. This clinically-proven method treats various medical conditions.
Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common sexual disorder among men. Men affected by ED have consistent trouble achieving and maintaining an erection that is firm enough to have sexual intercourse, despite being sexually stimulated. The condition can have both physical and psychological causes.
One of the major causes of ED is restricted blood flow to the penis, which means that the amount of blood in the penis may not be enough to cause an erection. This type of ED is called vascular erectile dysfunction. Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy is a clinically- proven and evidence-based treatment option for this type of ED. It also treats Peyronie’s Disease, which is the development of scar tissue in the penis leading to a curved, painful erection.
Shock Wave Therapy, also known as Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT), involves audible, high-energy sound waves. Short pulses of focused shock waves are directed at the penis at a very low intensity to improve erectile dysfunction. It consists of several sessions and can be repeated if necessary.
Shock waves successfully treat various medical conditions and have since the 1980’s. In orthopedics, shock waves treat painful insertional tendinopathies such as plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendinitis. In addition, shock waves treat non-healing bone fractures. In urology, shock waves break up kidney stones, treat Peyronie’s Disease and treat erectile dysfunction caused by vascular compromise. Depending on the area of treatment, low-energy or high-energy shock waves are applied. Compared to surgery, Shock Wave Therapy is a non-invasive treatment option with virtually no risks or side effects. Recent studies show that Shock Wave Therapy significantly improves erectile dysfunction. In particular, improvements are seen when the cause is due to decreased blood flow to the penis or other vascular causes.
In 2010, Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT) was introduced to treat vascular erectile dysfunction. During treatment, low-intensity shock waves are applied to different areas of the penis. A topical numbing cream is applied to the penis prior to the treatment. Patients experience virtually no pain or discomfort. The shock waves stimulate the creation of new blood vessels in the penis and improve blood flow within the penis. This creates the ability to achieve an erection. Shock wave therapy feels like a vibration to the penis. In about 95% of patients, the treatment is relatively painless. At Renew Wellness & Aesthetics, our board- certified physician, Dr. Julie Shelley performs this simple and painless treatment. Six total treatments, twice weekly for 3 weeks is recommended. Moreover, many patients report a noticeable improvement of their ability to achieve an erection within a few weeks
Yes, it is safe to exercise immediately after Shock Wave Therapy.
Men who have struggled with erectile dysfunction and have not seen success from medications such as Viagra® or Cialis® should consider Shock Wave Therapy. It can be especially effective for men who are not experiencing adequate blood flow to the penis. These patients will see an improvement with Shock Wave Therapy due to the promotion of new blood vessel growth in and around the penis.
Schedule a consult with Renew Wellness & Aesthetics in Oklahoma City for a free sexual health consultation with our board-certified physician, Dr. Julie Shelley, to determine if Shock Wave Therapy is the right treatment for your erectile dysfunction, no matter how mild or severe. For more information on other sexual health services, visit our Oklahoma men’s clinic for sexual health page.
If your lips are thin, you may be considering having a cosmetic treatment to gain plumper, fuller looking lips. As we age, many people develop thinner looking lips as well as frown lines or unsightly wrinkles. Botox lip flip and lip filler both help to make your lips look fuller and more attractive. These procedures vary slightly, so it’s essential to carefully consider which treatment would be right for you before deciding.
If you’re looking to change your lips’ shape as well as the volume of your lips, a filler is likely to be a better choice. If you’re unsure whether to choose a lip flip or filler, schedule a consultation at Renew and you can talk to Dr. Julie Shelley or certified and trained nurse injector, Jessie Hammock, RN, who will assess your lips and help you reach a decision. If you’re searching for Botox lip injections in Oklahoma City, don’t hesitate to contact Renew Wellness & Aesthetics, who provides a variety of aesthetic treatments and wellness services in Oklahoma City, including male lip injections. The doctors who cared for her during that recovery process made such an impression that she was inspired to be a physician and help others with their physical ailments. But it was only after her residency and fellowship training that she decided her path.
“I was drawn to the way aesthetic medicine could build peoples’ confidence. I would see people leaving the office so much happier than when they walked in and with a boost of confidence they did not have before their treatment,” says Dr. Shelley. “ I loved my experience practicing Sports Medicine, but something kept drawing me toward aesthetic medicine.”
Her desire was to blend her unique sports background and aesthetic training to create something special to serve an even wider variety of needs.
Renew Wellness and Aesthetics is the unique medical spa Dr. Shelley wanted to bring to the community she loves. It’s a space where she and her team can treat both the aesthetic concerns as well as the physical and emotional health concerns of her patients.
They provide traditional medical spa services such as a full-menu of injectables, waxing and skincare services for both men and women as well as cutting-edge regenerative treatment options. This includes an extensive list of services that bring solutions for problems ranging from low-libido and related hormone imbalances to incontinence and hair loss.
“Renew brings such a personalized approach to medical care in the Nichols Hills area, “ says Dr. Shelley. “Our team does such a great job of making sure we know each of our patients on a personal level, and I think that allows us to create the best individualized treatment plan for each patient.”
She is proud of the care and excellent treatment Renew is able to bring to the Nichols Hills community and Oklahoma City area — and she attributes much of that success to her talented team.
“My team – which includes nurse injector Jessie Hammock RN, aesthetician and certified medical micropigmentologist Sarah Lowell-Oshman, and Patient Coordinator Taylor Grande – make coming to work a joy every day,” says Dr. Shelley. “My goal was to have a team that truly cared for patients, would always put patients first, and would always have a positive attitude no matter what the scenario. They have truly exceeded my expectations, and I don’t know what I would do without them.”
Dr. Shelley is on a mission to improve the lives of her patients through the advancement of regenerative as well as aesthetic medicine.
“There is nothing like making an impact on someone’s life,” says, Dr. Shelley. “As a physician, to truly improve the way someone feels is so rewarding.”
She is a firm believer in self-care and encourages her patients to supplement their aesthetic treatments with healthy habits that improve their emotional and physical health.
“At Renew, we offer nutraceuticals, including Vitamin D supplements, Omega 3/Fish Oil, B Complex Vitamins, Iron supplements, Active Probiotic, DIM, and a sleep supplement with natural ingredients including melatonin, magnolia seed extract, and valerian.”
Sexual wellness is another area in which many of Renew’s patients are seeing real-life results. Dr. Shelley and her team are committed to creating a space for open conversation and comprehensive regenerative treatment options for both men and women. She and her team have undergone extensive training with the Intimate Wellness Institute™, which was co-founded by a renowned urogynecologist, to train and become certified in treatments to improve intimate health in both men and women.
When it comes to aesthetics, the concern she and her team hear most often is, “I don’t want to look unnatural.”
“I like to let all of our patients know that at Renew, we are conservative with our treatment approach and always strive to create the most natural yet beautiful look for our patients,” says Dr. Shelley.
“That is one of the reasons why we trademarked ‘The Natural Oklahoma Look™,’ because each of our providers has the goal of creating the most beautiful version of yourself while still allowing you to look like yourself.”
Whether it’s helping her patients or enjoying the Nichols Hills community with her family — Dr. Shelley is excited to spend her life investing in the people she cares about in the place she loves most.
Does anyone else feel like it has been months since we last chatted? We hope you all have stayed well, and if you have not been back to visit us at Renew yet, we are ready and waiting! While we are all focusing on protecting our health right now, it occurred to me that maybe we’re letting some other areas of our self-care fall to the wayside. We wanted to write a QUICK blog talking a little bit about our favorite sunscreens, sun protection and summer skin care recovery — so here it goes!
The summer months are finally here and it’s time to celebrate! Trips to exotic places may be few and far between, but quick getaways to the lake or your favorite poolside are totally within reach. We personally love to be on a boat at the lake with friends! However, it seems like no matter what, some area of our body comes home with a bit of a sunburn or some other less than glamorous “side effect” of a long weekend in the sun. We have a ton of great SPF options at Renew, so today we want to talk about MY personal faves.
First up are our two favorite sunscreens we carry here (see the complete offering list at the end).
We cannot go a day without the Total Defense and Repair Tinted SPF 34 from SkinMedica as part of our skin care routine. We are so picky about what a tinted moisturizer or SPF looks like on us, and this one fits the bill. It’s very light and not greasy and gives just enough coverage so that you can rock a natural summer glow look, or even layer a little powder over the top and transition it to a socially-distanced night on the town look. It also comes in non-tinted, which we love as well. A great perk of this SPF is that it also has blue light and infrared protection. For anyone wondering, blue light is the light emitted from our “screens” aka: cell phones, laptops, iPads, etc. Recent studies have found that blue light damage is just as aging and causes just as much damage as UVA/UVB rays. With all this increased screen time, it is best to protect your skin with this broad spectrum sunscreen that is appropriate for all skin types! Did we also mention that one of the key benefits of this moisturizer is that it reduces fine lines and wrinkles AND improves the appearance of damaged skin?? What more could you ask for?
Any fair-skinned blondies out there? For our light skin friends, we love the Elta MD UV Spray and UV Sport! We recommend the spray on the body and the UV Sport on the face, ears, and along the part in your hair so your scalp does not get burned. Honestly, anything from the Elta MD line is FAB but these are the two we find myself reaching for the most. Bonus — the guys love UV Sport too! They can even apply this water-resistant sunscreen to their head (#baldisbeautiful) and face without having to worry that the heat and humidity might get the best of him. This same thing makes it a kid-approved SPF too, no more stingy eyes at the pool!
Two of our other “can’t live without” summer skin care products are more of an after-sun product that helps the skin to bounce back after some time in the sun or in the water. First up is Le Mieux’s Iso Cell Recovery Spray. Use this spray pre- and post-sun exposure to help skin balance and retain moisture. It feels like heaven on sunburned skin and has been proven to help it heal quicker than if you were to leave it untreated. You can also use this spray on any scrapes, cuts, bug bites or any other unpleasant skin issue that comes your way. We also love the Moisture Infusion Sheet Mask by Le Mieux. It gives your skin an instant refreshed feeling and hits the reset on your moisture levels.
We promised to keep this short and sweet, so we’ll wrap it up with this…PROTECT YOUR SKIN! Great skin starts with great skincare, and great skincare should always include sunscreen. As promised, the complete list of our staff sun care picks is below!
• ISO Cell Recovery Solution and ISO Cell Silver Gel from Le Mieux
• Lytera 2.0 from SkinMedica
• Discoloration Defense and Metacell Renewal B from SkinCeuticals
Post Sun/Lake/Pool Dryness:
• Dermal Repair Cream from SkinMedica (would be great for swimmers who experience chlorine dryness)
• Biocellulose Masque from SkinCeuticals
• Moisture Infusion Sheet Mask by Le Mieux
• Essential Defense Mineral SPF from SkinMedica
Outdoor Activities/Sports (great for men):
• EltaMD UV Sport
• EltaMD UV Clear
• EltaMD UV Spray
• EltaMD UV Lotion
